Photographs from inside a Stasi prison

Last friday I visited the Stasi prison in East Berlin, where 250,000 people deemed “hostile elements” to the communist system were imprisoned. Apart from the peeling paint, the prison looks almost as it did when it was operating – the phones, typewriters, lamps, and chairs still lie in their place in the prison’s 120 interrogation rooms.
